Joomla 1.6 (Alpha) Released

Yesterday, the Joomla! core developers announced the availability of the first Alpha Release of Joomla!1.6.

Now calm down, we could be 12-18 MONTHS away from having mature code for a production website. I will be playing with this code throughout the dev process, and reporting here about what I learn. At this point, what I "hear" is that the fantastic extension "JUGA" has been used to model the long awaited "built-in" access control. If that is a reality, it will be a tremendous step forward for the project, and (I suspect) a gigantic impediment for newbies and non-techies...
